News of the OMG variety

Here's two quick bits of exciting Emma's career-related news. First off, three of my stories are featured in this month's (April) issue of Alternative Press. This marks my first appearance in a major, nationwide print publication, so please be sure to pick up a copy and spread the Emma-gasmic love! (Or, you know, just browse through the issue at Kroger and infuriate the staff by pretending like you're in a library, not a store.)

Secondly - and this is the big tuna - a quote from one of my stories has been featured in the front of a New York Times bestseller! Yes, you read that right: see, a while back, I had the exquisite pleasure of interviewing Ms. Susan Jane Gilman, one of my favorite authors and a real inspiration to me and my work. The story I wrote was published in Real Detroit Weekly in March of 2009, and spoke at length about her new memoir, Undress Me in the Temple of Heaven.

Last week, while in search of something familiar but reliably brilliant to read, I happened to pick up the newly released paperback copy of this book, being that my copy happens to be in Kyrgyzstan with my friend who's serving time in the Peace Corps. (Don't you hate when that happens?) Whilst flipping through the quotes of review and praise in the front, I was shocked - shocked! - to see that an exurb from my RDW story had been featured in the front of the paperback edition. Believe me, this discovery really made my day - especially coming on the heels of a journalism grad school rejection. So be sure to check out the paperback release of Undress Me in the Temple of Heaven; not only for me and my ego, but to treat yourself to a riveting work of literature, too.
